How an EMS Session Works

Every EMS session follows a simple, structured flow so you always know what to expect. Sessions are available in person at our Richmond, VA studio or virtually with a certified EMS coach. No gym. No equipment. No excuses. Just 20 minutes and the most efficient workout of your life.

Suit Up

Slip into the RevMethod preferred EMS suit. It sits directly against your skin, covering your chest, back, arms, core, glutes, and legs. Ready in minutes.

Warm Up

A brief warm up gets your body moving and creates a light natural moisture layer between your skin and the suit. This improves conductivity and primes your muscles for the session ahead.

Activate

Turn on the stimulation through the suit app. Safe electrical impulses travel through the suit directly to your motor neurons, triggering powerful full body muscle contractions from the very first rep.

Move

Work with a certified RevMethod trainer, follow an on demand workout in the app, or move through your favorite sport or activity. Twenty minutes later your workout is complete.

Is EMS technology safe?

When EMS is applied correctly it is safe, well researched, and used widely in professional and medical settings. The research spans hundreds of controlled studies and the technology has been used safely for decades.

Who should avoid EMS?

EMS is not appropriate for everyone. The following conditions are absolute contraindications: Cardiac pacemaker, pregnancy, active cancer, epilepsy, acute fever, or open wounds. We ask that you obtain medical clearance before beginning.

How we keep you safe

We screen every client carefully before their first session and progress intensity over time. We are here to talk through any questions you have about whether EMS is right for you before booking.

What exactly is EMS training and how does it work?

EMS stands for electro muscle stimulation, and while that sounds complicated the concept is simple. You wear a full body suit that delivers safe gentle electrical impulses directly to your muscles. Those impulses trigger your muscles to contract the same way your brain tells them to contract during a regular workout, just far more efficiently.

Is EMS safe? What should I know before my first session?

When EMS is applied correctly with proper screening, a certified coach, and a progressive introduction protocol, it is safe, well researched, and used widely in professional and medical settings. We will review your health history, screen for contraindications, and answer your questions before your first session.

How is EMS different from a regular workout at the gym?

Do I need to work with a certified EMS trainer or can I just use the app?

EMS activates up to 90 percent of your muscle fibers in a single 20 minute session compared to about 40 to 50 percent in a typical gym workout. It does this without heavy joint loading, which makes it especially valuable if you are managing joint pain, old injuries, or a busy schedule.

You can absolutely train independently using the app because every workout was designed by certified EMS trainers. Working with a certified coach, especially at the beginning, adds another layer of personalization and safety. They make sure your suit fit, intensity, and program are right for your body and goals.
